We had a blast making these fun and “pretty” heart ornaments for Valentine’s Day decor! We used pink and turquoise paint on these salt-dough creations, and these might just “live” in the girls’ room year-round!

Once you have mixed your dough, start by cutting heart shapes with a cookie cutter. Don’t forget to poke a hole for hanging! Then bake flat on a cookie sheet in the oven as per the recipe.
When baking is complete, let them cool for a minimum of 15 minutes before painting.
We used standard craft paint for our hearts.
To make the dots along the edges of the hearts, you can see that we dipped the ends of the paintbrushes in paint to make consistent little dots.
Let your paint dry completely for several hours. Then, dress up your ornament with a pretty ribbon! We just used some thin coordinating grosgrain ribbon that we had on hand. After Valentine’s Day, these would be perfect for hanging in a girl’s bedroom, or even for an American Girl themed birthday party!
