This is the first Christmas where our little one is actually (somewhat) aware of what is happening.
We’ve been watching the Polar Express and Frosty the Snowman and the Peanuts Christmas movie, and I just bought the VeggieTales Christmas pack.
The day after Thanksgiving, we decorated the Christmas tree, and our little one had more fun collecting all of the ball ornaments and carrying them around in a box.
The other day, we were sitting in the living room, and she walked up to a Santa ornament, which was eye-level for her, and said, “Please bring me present, Santa, please, please, please.” Then she sat down in her beanbag chair, pretends to crack a whip and says, “Come on, reindeer, I’m Santa. Come on, reindeer. This is the Polar Express!”
Then, she turns to me and pretends to hand me something. “Here’s a present for you, open it,” she says. I said, “What is it?” She says, “It’s a pink one.” (She seems to like the idea of pink Christmas presents.) Then she grabs a dryer sheet from the floor and starts “polishing” the ornaments on the Christmas tree.
Later that evening at Hobby Lobby, there was a huge painting of a Nativity Scene, which she spent some time studying. When daddy wrapped her in a blanket on the way back into our house, she said, “Look! I’m baby Jesus!”
These were just some funny little things I wanted to remember! Tis the season…
