The colder weather here in Colorado is making my skin so much drier! With the humidity in Texas, I never really had this problem. The typical moisturizing body wash just isn’t cutting it.
I started grinding oatmeal to add to my child’s bath water in order to combat dry skin, so I began considering the idea of creating some oatmeal soap for myself. It turns out, making soap is an extremely complicated process, and I’m not ready to tackle it.
So, I learned that you can just grate a regular mild bar of soap to use as a base. Since oatmeal and honey are supposed to do the trick, I decided to keep it simple.
After grating one bar of Olay soap, I melted it in the microwave. Then I stirred in some ground oatmeal–a little bit less than one cup. Finally, I squirted around a teaspoon of honey into the mixture. I poured the mixture into two small round plastic containers and placed them into the freezer to harden.
The result is great so far!
