This was my toddler’s third roundtrip flight in her short life. When she was an infant, we flew to Tulsa for my husband’s business trip. When she was a pre-toddler, we flew to Breckenridge. This trip from Denver to Austin was my first time to fly alone with her. So, I was definitely nervous. If you are going to be flying with a little one, here are some things that really help:
Books: Slip a few books into your carry-on. Even better, slip a new book or two into your bag.
Comfort item: If your little one has a favorite blanket or teddy bear, be sure to bring that along!
While you’ll be tempted to pack tons of stuff to keep him/her occupied, don’t do it. Feeling cramped by excess baggage could actually make things worse. It’s all about the quality of the items you bring, not the quantity. If you can pack anything that’s new to your child, do it. In this situation, you’ll get better mileage out of something that’s new.
